Archival History

Acquisition

Records form the Documentary Archive of the Austrian Resistance (Dokumentationsarchiv des österreichischen Widerstandes (DÖW) ). The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the collection via the United States Holocaust Museum International Archives Project in August 2010.

Scope and Content

Contains the daily arrest reports of the Gestapo Vienna, the originals of which are held by the Dokumentationsarchiv des österreichischen Widerstandes (DÖW) and the Bundesarchiv Berlin.

System of Arrangement

Due to data protection concerns, the DÖW removed from the two databases to this collection the names of victims that fit under the categories "homosexual" ("Homosexuelle") or "abortion" ("Abtreibung"). The DÖW has compiled a separate database for these names. Researchers must contact the DÖW if they wish to access this database of which the USHMM does not have a copy.
