Acquisition
This name list was compiled by the National Council of Resistance (CNR) from various sources from 2001 to 2009, and is still subject to additions and revisions. The purpose was to identify who was Jewish, and where all the Jews came from. Not all the Jews were citizens or longstanding residents; about 2900 of the names on the list were exiled Jews from Germany or Austria who were living in Luxembourg on May 10, 1940. Sources included the National Archives in Luxembourg, and various records from Paris, Brussels/Mechelen, Switzerland, Yad Vashem, Auschwitz, Łódź, and the like. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Archives received the list via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum International Archives Project in Jan. 2010.
