Biographical History
Abraham and Bertha Rolef (née Kahn) had three children: Else (b. 1909), Hans (b. 1913), and Ruth (b. 1915). Prior to the start of World War II, their children emigrated from Germany. Abraham and Bertha were deported to Theresienstadt in 1942. In October 1944 they were deported to Auschwitz where they perished.

Steven Rolef donated his family's letters to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Nov. 9, 2009.
Scope and Content
Consists of letters, postcards, and documents related to the Holocaust experiences of the Rolef family, 1935-1947. Includes postcards sent to the United States from Theresienstadt 1943-1944. Includes weekly letters from 1939-1942.
