Biographical History

Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell (1857-1941) was an accomplished British soldier who commanded successful campaigns in South Africa, Malta, and India, engaged in military reconnaissance, and was the hero at the Siege of Mafeking (1899-1900) during the Boer War. He is the founder of the world Scouting movement and published the manual "Aids to Scouting."
