Hermann Goering, Albert Speer, Wilhelm Keitel, and others at a ceremony in the Reich Chancellery in Berlin. Inside the Chancellery, men and women receive small crosses (Kriegsverdienstkreuz) that indicate their level of civilian (non-combat) service to the nation. One man receives the highest level honor. An officer pins this man's cross medal around his neck, and the medal recipient reviews troops with Goering in the courtyard of the Chancellery. 01:01:59 According to the dope sheet, this footage shows foreign workers watching a performance in a Berlin music hall. A band and a couple dancing the tango perform on a stage in front of a crowd. Shots of the couple dancing are interspersed with close-ups of the faces of audience members. After the couple finishes, a group of men play a tune on partially filled glass bottles. 01:03:19 A performance of Wagner's "Die Meistersinger von Nuernberg" in Bayreuth, Germany. Scenes of people entering the Bayreuth opera house, including several officers. One of the officers is SS General Friedrich Jeckeln, seen at 01:03:26, just before the the close-up of the opera program. Shots of the performance. 01:04:22 A gathering of international fascist youth organizations in Austria (? The dope sheet says Germany, but if it's all the same conference then it's probably Austria) The scene opens on a bucolic lakeside setting. Uniformed Hitler Youth members arrive carrying suitcases. Shots of various other fascist youth in uniforms. The boys do exercises by the lake. The scene changes to Vienna, where a parade of fascist youth march down a street, holding the flags of their respective countries. Baldur von Schirach, leader of the Hitler Youth, is shown watching the parade. Exteriors and interiors of the building where the conference is being held. The participants shown in the audience include many adults and some women. Close-ups of various speakers, including (according to the dope sheet), representatives from Denmark, Italy, and Spain. The last scene shows von Schirach and another fascist leader signing documents and shaking hands. The date given in the March of Time record is October-November 1942. 01:07:18 A shooting festival in Innsbrueck, Austria in July 1943. The streets are decked with Nazi banners and Austrians in native dress parade through the streets carrying Austrian flags. Men in military uniforms watch the parade from the sides of the street. 01:08:30 Scenes from occupied France. Henri Petain and Pierre Laval receive the Turkish ambassador; members of the collaborationist Parti Populaire Francais parade through the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Party members lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier and give a fascist salute. Jacques Doriot, former communist and leader of the Parti Populaire, is shown speaking to a large crowd in a hall. Russian narration. 01:10:02 A ceremony in a large square in Oslo, Norway, where collaborator Vidkun Quisling is honored for his "efforts against Bolshevism." Uniformed women and men march into the square holding flags while a large crowd watches. Shots of Norwegian soldiers. 01:11:05 Volunteers for service on the Eastern front. Vidkun Quisling reviews Norwegian volunteers; French volunteers in Paris bid farewell to loved ones and board trains; Latvian and Lithuanian volunteers waving as their trains pull out of the station. Scenes in a Norwegian camp for fascist youth. Adults and youth (boys and girls) receiving food from a field kitchen and eating outdoors among a large number of tents. Shots of Quisling visiting the camp and reviewing young uniformed women. A group of young women rush up to him, salute, and shake his hand.
