Scope and Content

(Czech Newsreel Material) MLS, exhumation of victims' bodies (Czech patriots) from Terezin and Karlovy Vary prison camps. HASs, POWs working in graves exhuming bodies. One POW prominently featured wears a jacket that has a large swastika painted on the back. VSs, bodies being lifted out of graves for identification. CU, pant leg of a POW exhuming bodies, the letters "SS" are crudely painted on the pant leg. VSs, bodies being placed on wooden platforms for doctors' identification. Doctors wearing rubber gloves identifying the dead. Field of coffins, lined in neat rows, in one shot the white painted numbers are visible on the edge of each coffin. Men carrying coffins to the field. Exhumation of bodies. Doctors identifying bodies and examining to determine means of death. CU of a victim's badge, a triangle and a number are visible, the color of the triangle (because film is b/w) and the actual number are not distinguishable (overexposure). Bodies being placed in coffins for burial. Reburial ceremony. Flower-decked coffins. Soldiers at salute. In one shot there is a banner hung in the trees above the soldiers which reads "Betinacistica Sociolismu" Coffins are lowered into the ground.
