He places them on the desk of Assistant to Press Officer H. Steward Beers. Beers reads papers as Pierre Denoyer, columnist of "Petit Parisien" enters, shakes hands with assistant to press officer Harry Pierson, who gives him a mimeographed handout. Pierson answers phone call, beckons reporter from International News Service T.W. Wilson, who approaches desk, talks to Pierson, and exits. Two cyclist messengers from newspaper offices arrive to collect handouts from Pierson, who proceeds to call Agence Havas, representative of D'Aldrete, and gives him a handout. He is ushered into the reception room. Manley ask reception-clerk Maurice De Barneville to see the ambassador but is told he must see Carmel Offie for an appointment.
