July 13, 1938. Silent: US Embassy. EXT of embassy. Shot of flag being hoisted at embassy (taken from Place de la Concorde). CU street sign "Rue Boissy D'Anglas". CU street sign "Avenue Gabriel" on other corner. Main entrance to embassy at 2 Avenue Gabriel. Cars driving in and out. Leblay camera: US embassy, EXT. Dr. Serge Voronoff and wife enter embassy. Voronoff's chauffeur and Pekinese dog. Ambassador Bullitt arriving in car, shaking hands with Walter Lippmann who remains in car. CU Ambassador's car's license plate CD - 5F. Wall camera, Mag. 8: US Embassy, INT, Main entrance hall. Shot, toward EXT from interior hall (poor quality). Arrival of Ambassador Bullitt's car. Ambassador enters hall. Leblay camera: Arrival at US embassy of author Louis Bromfield. Bromfield escorted by a porter to information desk, where he makes inquiries of Ms. Elizabeth Deegan (in charge). Woman speaking to Mrs. Deegan. July 22, 1938. Wall camera, silent: US Embassy press office. Embassy messenger enters with bundle of daily papers. He places them on the desk of Assistant to Press Officer H. Steward Beers. Beers reads papers as Pierre Denoyer, columnist of "Petit Parisien" enters, shakes hands with assistant to press officer Harry Pierson, who gives him a mimeographed handout. Pierson answers phone call, beckons reporter from International News Service T.W. Wilson, who approaches desk, talks to Pierson, and exits. Two cyclist messengers from newspaper offices arrive to collect handouts from Pierson, who proceeds to call Agence Havas, representative of D'Aldrete, and gives him a handout. CU, handout in French and English. Wall camera, mixed sound: US Embassy, first floor outside ambassador's office. Waiter William Frisby brings Ambassador's lunch. Ambassador's office door opened by attendant Papillon. More takes of same. Main staircase, US lawyer Anthony H. Manley going up staircase towards attendant Papillon, asking to see ambassador. He is ushered into the reception room. Manley ask reception-clerk Maurice De Barneville to see the ambassador but is told he must see Carmel Offie for an appointment. De Barneville copies information onto visitors card. Papillon escorting Manley to Offie's office.
