Villagers separated by Wehrmacht troops, Eastern Front
Creator(s)
- Bundesarchiv (Germany). Filmarchiv
Scope and Content
Powerful scenes of German army personnel separating villagers (men from women and children), forcing women and children to leave. People are distressed, soldiers are hostile. Families wave goodbye. Women and children move off across wooden bridge.
Note(s)
Scholar Bernd Boll indicates that these are Wehrmacht uniforms; no indication of Einsatzgruppe involvement. Confirmed by Alexander Prusin 06/09/05. See photos of Lubny, Ukraine (E. of Kiev) in Wehrmacht exhibit catalog. Appears to be very similar location and population. Einsatzgruppe 4a murdered Jews of Lubny on October 16, 1941. Note that "Fruehjahr 1941" must be an error, either in Bundesarchiv record or our transcription of information.
