Scope and Content

VAR shots of Oranienburg Synagogue, arches, dome, Hebrew writing. Brief but good shots of the Scheunenviertl of Berlin, small shops, including Jewish bookstore "Hebraische Buchandlung, M. Gonzer." Orthodox Jewish pedestrians (men). "Sally Rosner" store. Shots of Reichstag.

Note(s)

  • Though this was dated in footage as 1938 (by BA staff), it could be earlier. To be verified. See Story 307, Film ID 202A for footage of street scenes/urban life in Berlin.

  • "Berlin 1938" film is a travelogue of Berlin, showing lots of the famous sites. Included in the reel is a short sequence of tracking shot of street with Jewish stores. Older Jewish men walk by. Synagogue. Also, great generic shots of busy Berlin streets. Signs for election.
