Biographical History

Folke Bernadotte af Wisborg (1895-1948) was an army officer, Red Cross leader and diplomat, responsible for the Swedish Red Cross rescue operation with the White Buses in 1945.

Scope and Content

The archive contains (in vol. 1), among other things, Folke Bernadotte's pocket almanacs from 1944-1945 with notes on the Red Cross campaign and notebooks with notes on meetings in Berlin during the negotiations (March-April 1945) in connection with the Red Cross operation with the 'White buses'.

Conditions Governing Access

Previously, it was necessary to obtain prior authorization to access the archive, but since 2012 it is freely available for research with the exception of volume number 10. Volume 10 consists of 15 letters (+ 1 letter as an attachment) and 4 telegrams written by Folke Bernadotte (1940-1946, n.d.).
