Biographical History
The lawyer Dr. Ernst Baburger (1902-1981) was a member of the Legal Department of the Swedish section of World Jewish Congress and also a member of Emigranten-Selbsthilfe, a Swedish Jewish self-help organization devoted to providing relief and cultural activities for refugees. Baburger was involved in both organization's legal aid for Jewish victims of Nazi persecution.
Scope and Content
The archive contains, among other things, the lawyers' client files, arranged annually. Among these files are compensation files from Jewish survivors who sought so-called Wiedergutmachung.
System of Arrangement
Volumes numbered 1 to 60 contain clients files, organized chronologically. Volumes 61-71, are personal documents and accounts.
Conditions Governing Access
Access to client files requires prior authorization from the National Archives. Other documents are freely available.
