Scope and Content

Issue number 1, volume 3 ( January 8th, 1937) of the periodical "Mitteilungen zur weltanschaulichen Lage" (Information on the ideological situation) [by] "Der Beauftragte des Führers für die Überwachung der gesamten geistigen und weltanschaulichen Schulung und Erziehung der NSDAP" (Commissioner of the Führer for the observation of the entire intellectual and ideological education of the National Socialist German Worker's Party) [editor]. An article about Schmitt titled "Der Staatsrechtslehrer Prof. Dr. Carl Schmitt " (The teacher of constitutional law Prof. Dr. Carl Schmitt) makes up the first 15 pages of the issue. It deals with Schmitt's political views and their inherent discrepancies, contradictions and also changes according to the respective political situation. The article also covers Schmitt's relation to the Catholic Church, the Jesuits and how he is trying to use his teachings as a means of subdueing the National Socialist State under the political power of the Catholic Church. The last 5 pages of the issue deal with various subjects or short notices: State and Party about the ideological situation, Epiphany not being an official holiday in Bavaria and and Rerformation Day not being an official holiday in Thuringia any longer, Orders from the SA-Group of Franconia, News from the Catholic Church regarding the Christmas Message and the poor health of the Pope, and News from the Protestant Church about the beginning of ecumenical talks.
