Scope and Content
The file consists of various parts: 1.) Notification from the Preußische Geheime Staatspolizei.Geheimes Staatspolizeiamt (Prussian Secret State Police. Secret State Police Agency), signed by [Alwin] Wipper, to the Reichsführer-SS, Chef des Sicherheitshauptamtes (National Leader-SS, Head of the Main Security Office), [Heinrich Himmler], dated August 24, 1936, regarding the mail surveillance of the Bulgarian Iubenoff. The address of Iubenoff is needed to start surveillance, but he is not registered in Berlin. 2.) Barely readable handwritten notes (1 page). 3.) Report from the SD-Hauptamt (Main Security Office), department II/2, dated December 2, 1936. After Schmitt's elimination from the Academy of German law and "Nationalsozialistischer Rechtswahrerbund" ("National Socialist Association of German Legal Professionals"), he started new activities, dealing with Law of Nations. He wants to use his good relations with the leader of the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst [DAAD](German Academic Exchange Service) branch in Rome, [Theodor] Blahut (a catholic) and the famous Italian Professor of Law of Nations [Carlo ]Costamagna (who has won Mussolini's favour) to establish a new Institute of Law of Nations. This has to be prevented by all means. The next sentence stops in the middle, the rest is missing. 4.) Note from the Sicherheitdienst des Reichsführers SS. SD Oberabschnitt Rhein (Security Service of the National Leader SS. Superior District Rhein) to the SD-Hauptamt (Main Security Office), department II/2, dated January 9, regarding Schmitt: Efforts to get more information from [Paul] Giesecke have not been successful so far. Towards a police informer at Marburg University he was reserved and fearfully avoided more definite statements about Schmitt. He mentioned the article in "Das Schwarze Korps". The investigations will be continued. Upon receipt of the documents a report will be sent at once.
