Scope and Content

The first part of the file consists of three comments by [Reinhard] Höhn regarding Schmitt, which should be added to his record at the SD Main Security Office. The first comment from the 20th of October 1936 mentions that the head of the department of "Jews" at the Institute of Walter Frank, Mr. [Wilhelm] Grau, denounced Schmitt fiercely lately. There are some handwritten notes added to it, which are hardly readable. The second comment from the 25th of October 1936 covers Schmitt's absenteeism at a conference of the Akademie für Deutsches Recht (Academy of German Law) in Munich and how it can interpreted. The third comment [without a given date] is dealing with [Falk] Ruttke's lecture at Schmitt's conference and that [Falk] Ruttke should be made aware of the fact that Schmitt is taking advantage of their relationship and of the public impression their working together is creating. The second part of the file is a report by [Reinhard] Höhn about a meeting with [Hans] Frank after the session of the committee of police law from the 24th of October 1936. Part of the conversation was Schmitt, how to keep him from getting a post at the Akademie [für deutsches Recht (Academy for German Law)] and his purported renouncement of this post. The last part of the file is a certified copy of a letter from the 21st of December by [Hermann] Göring in his capacity of Prussian Prime Minister to the "Hauptschriftleitung of the Schwarze Korps" (main editorial office of the Black Corps [,the official newspaper of the SS]) regarding this newspaper's articles about Schmitt in the issues 49 and 50. The titles of the articles mentioned are "Eine peinliche Ehrenrettung" (An embarrassing retrieval of one's honor) and "Es wird immer noch peinlicher!" (It is still getting more embarrassing!).
