Scope and Content

Notifications and notes from 1936 ( all in connection with Carl Schmitt) from Central department II 2, led by Höhn. Some are stamped "show to C", almost all contain handwritten added information, one is stamped "Der Leiter der Zentralabteilung II 2, SS-Sturmbannführer" and has Höhn's signature added. The last one is a list of books and lectures in chronological order from 1923 to 1933. Content of the notes, e.g.: (5.6.1936): According to a present notification, Mr. von Leers often visits Carl Schmitt and wants to use him to secure himself a professorship. (15.08.1936): Carl Schmitt's wife, a Serb, founded a German-Yugoslavian association together with Mr. Iubenoff, a Bulgarian. Both are known to support Greater-Yugoslavian ideologies. Mr. Schmitt also is in close contact with leading Serbs. Proposal to keep Mr. Iubbenoff's mail and telephone under surveillance in order to find out about the circle of supporters and to which extent communistic elements are involved. (13.08.1936): Note from Central department II 2, signed by Höhn, informing department I/1122 about the phone surveillance for Eberhard von Medem, who belongs to Carl Schmitt's inner circle. The surveillance, requested by department II/2 and approved by C., should now be implemented. (07.09.1936): Information about planned attendance of Gauleiter Streicher at a conference organized by Schmitt, themed "The Jews in Germany".Proposal to warn Gauleiter Streicher and ask him to withdraw his acceptance to take part. The Jewish Question is done with in the field of law. Schmitt's reasons for organizing such a conference are to distract from the really dangerous opponent, the Church and to rehabilitate himself by using Gauleiter Streicher and his supposed influence on the Führer.
