Scope and Content
The Ludwig Dische papers are a collection of letters, drafts, copies, newspaper clips and biographical material about famous Jews from Czernowitz, Bukovina. The file includes handwritten notes about famous Jews from Czernowitz. The people discussed are Viorica Ursuleac, Victor Wittner, with an article from “Die Stimme”, Feb. 1976 on the 20. Anniversary of death of Victor Wittner, an abstract of a newspaper article in “Die Stimme” about Victor Wittner, February 1970, the obituary of Victor Wittner from “The Bund” (Switzerland) January 11, 1950. It also includes poems by Victor Wittner “Sprung auf die Strasse“ (Jump on the street), 1924, copies of table of content; poems by Victor Wittner “Der Mann zwischen Fenster und Spiegel “(The man between window and mirror), 1929, copies of table of content; Sonnets by Victor Wittner, Alltag der Augen (Eyes ‘Everyday) copies of the first pages of the publication and table of contents, Poems Victor Wittner “Das Haarpfand” copies of the first pages and table of content, the poem „Dank an den Vater“(A thanks to father), “Besinnung” (Reflection) typewritten, a newspaper article about the publication of Victor Wittner’s “Sprung auf die Strasse” (Jump on the street), an Interview with Victor Wittner and poem “Junggesellen” (Bachelors), as well as biographical information. Finally there is an invitation by the Ministry of War, Vienna, to the lecture of Mayor of Czernowitz, Dr. Weisselberger, about his experiences as a hostage in Russia on December 11,1915 as well as an invitation in the same publication to Robert Schumann’s Manfred on December 7th, 1915. It also includes a ticket and newspaper article about Dr. Weissenberger’s transfer to nobility and his obituary.
