Scope and Content
The file contains the verdict of Josef Fano (born on 24 September 1924 in Kolarovice). An airstrike on May 13th and 14th in 1943 destroyed farmer’s Bartovsky property, where Josef Fano’s father was working. As Josef Fano was searching for buried things of his father he came across an envelope containing 13.000 K. Due to his lack of proper education he wasn’t able to count the money himself – that's why he asked Franziska Zukal to determine the sum. She became suspicious of him owning this much money and told her son-in-law, a denturist, about her concerns. He was mistrustful as well and confronted him. Josef Fano insisted that his father gave him all of the money. He spent nearly all of it on clothes, food, and a bicycle. As the denturist confronted Josef Fano for the third time he admitted to have stolen the money. Only 600 K were left at that time. He was sentenced to death.
