Scope and Content

The file contains the verdict of Wenzel Dvorak (born on 16 August 1902 in Radborsch). In 1918 the defendant found a Hungarian rifle as well as several rounds of ammunition in his parents' garden near the "Smichov-Hostiwitz" railway line, and kept them, unreported, until August 1939 when the authorities requested the civilian population to hand in their weapons. The co defendant, his wife (Ludmila Dvorak; born on 6 Sewptember 1906 in Militschin), urged him to deliver said weapons – however, he refused to do so. After the gun-law was tightened in May 1940 Wenzel Dvorak got nervous and hid a box containing all illegal items under his entrance area's floor. The rifle and all of the ammunition were found during a house search on 17 October 1944. Wenzel Dvorak was sentenced to death, his wife was acquitted.
