The file contains quotes from the memoirs of military leaders during the First World War. The main topic is the situation in the Balkans, and its negative impact on the German war effort. The quotes are by Erich Ludendorff, August von Mackensen and Paul von Hindenburg. All were aware that a continuation of the fight after the summer of 1918 in the Balkans was an unnecessary waste of human lives.
