Extent and Medium
2 online resources (2, 15 pages)
Scope and Content
The file contains information on the Reichsluftschutzbund (RLB), an organization in Nazi Germany in charge of air raid precautions (ARP). According to the documents the RLB consisted of "Aryan-German" men and women. Women were considered essential for the work of the organization and their achievements were praised several times in the files. It was argued that women would be successful at the task because it meant protecting their possessions and the lives of children. Furthermore, women had to perform duties usually reserved to men, as a large part of them was absent during the war.
