Scope and Content

The file is the second part of Curt Joseph’s testimony “No Homesickness”, recounting his youth and adult life in Germany, harassment and loss of livelihood through the Nazis and emigration to Great Britain. He recounts the events of the Kristallnacht and his arrest and transfer to Sachsenhausen. In the camp he is instructed by his foreman, a political prisoner, how to survive the “green” criminal foremen and the S.S. he states that the Jehova’s Witnesses were treated worse than the Jews. Eventually he was released from Sachsenhausen and told to start the process of emigration, which was extremely difficult. The Nazis had imposed many hurdles and most countries refused to accept Jewish emigrants.
