Scope and Content
The file contains five circulars (“Rundschreiben”) by the United Restitution Organization (Frankfurt) from January 1971. The circulars include the following issues: no. 1699, no. 1697, no. 1696, no. 1695, and no. 1694. They mainly deal with recent court judgements made by the German Federal Court (Bundesgerichtshof) on questions of restitution after Nazi persecution, especially regarding juridical regulations for professional damages (loss of the professional position), for health damages following life in hiding from Nazi persecution, and for damages to the personal freedom. Furthermore, the issues focus on the conditions of people who were expelled (“Vertriebene”). The topics include: „Schaden an Leben, hier: im Anschluss an Freiheitsentziehung“, „Gesundheitsschaden, hier: als Folge illegalen Lebens“, „Schaden an Freiheit“, „Vertriebeneneigenschaft, hier: Sprach- und Kulturkreis“, „Berufsschaden, hier: Verlust des Arbeitsplatzes!“.
