Scope and Content
The file contains typewritten excerpts of articles published in German newspapers between 1933 and 1940. Most of the excerpts are extracts from articles and interviews covering speeches and lectures by German politicians and scientists, for example Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, and Carl Schmitt. The articles were published in press organs linked to the NSDAP and also in both national and regional newspapers. The extracts had been divided into six different sections. The first section includes documents on the role of science (Law, Economics, History, Germanic Ethnology, Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, Race theory) and education for the Nazi state. The second section regards German policy towards the United States and other American countries. The third section includes extracts from articles on the German vision of Great-Britain’s role in a Germanic dominated Europe. A fourth section contains extracts of texts arguing for the “Self-Determination for the Sudeten Germans”, while a fifth section assembles documents on the question of “Life Space” as seen by the Nazis. The sixth and last section contains extracts of speeches and lectures on the economic policy aiming at Germany’s autarky.
