Scope and Content

The assortment of files contains journals and newsletters published by various European and German Anti-Nazi networks between 1934 and 1945. The first file contains two issues of the journal “Het Filter” published the Youth Press Committee in the Netherlands in 1938-1939 and defending the Netherland's status of neutrality. A second file contains issues of the French newspapers “France-soir” and “Fraternité française” dealing with the fall of Berlin in spring 1945 and with the politician and former Resistant fighter Pierre Poujade. Furthermore, the assortment contains one issue of the newspaper “Free Denmark” published in London in 1942 and dealing with the German occupation of Denmark, as well as the Austrian newspaper “Freie Arbeiter-Stimme” speaking out against antisemitism in 1937. Finally, the last file contains one issue of the London based newspaper “Germany To-Day” publishing information on the situation in Nazi-Germany provided by illegal anti-fascist sources, and the typewritten newsletter of the Internationale Hilfs-Vereinigung published in December 1934 in Paris and dealing with the oppression of communist activists in Nazi Germany.
