Scope and Content

The file contains several documents dealing with regulations and procedures against Jews by the Nazi military commanders in France. For example, a decree was published on July 16th, 1942, which obliges Jews of Hungarian citizenship to wear the Yellow badges, the french government and the police have already been informed. A copy of all recipients of this enactment is also attached. On September 18th, 1942, this decree was expanded, and Jews of Bulgarian citizenship had to wear the Yellow badges, a list of recipients has also been added here. Decree No. 9 on measures against Jews states, that Jews are not allowed anymore to attend public events and that restrictions have been imposed on trade and businesses. Jews were therefore only allowed to visit warehouses and commercial establishments between 3 and 4 p.m. On the following pages this regulations are described in more detail, particularly regarding their implementation. In addition Berechtigungscheine Nr. 4515 (qualification certificate) are attached.
