Scope and Content
The file contains several documents concerning registration forms for the acceptance to the NSDAP, questionnaires, as well as refusal notices and circulars on the world-descriptive-political orientation of the civil service of the NSDAP. The questionnaires also ask for informations about the family, about the police-record, memberships of other NSDAP institutions like SA, Hitler Jugend (Hitler Youth), or NSV (Nationalist Student Association) and whether they behaved in accordance to the nationalist ideology from 1933 and were seen using the Hitler salute. Also party donations of the applicants are mentioned for a possible approval. The rejected applications for the NSDAP membership are issued from the Kreisgericht Erfurt-Stadt in 1938. Most of the reasons why people got rejected are regarding their activities before the seizure of control by the Nazis. Most of the applicants were members of Freemason lodges, like 'Zur Goldenen Leyer' or 'Ludwig zur Eintracht'. An other document shows the annulment of the party membership of Max Babl in 1938, because it became known that after he joined the NSDAP he was still involved in a Lodge-like institution. Circulars provide information on how to deal with applicants and how to refuse them.
