Scope and Content

The documents are correspondence between Nazi leaders and German army commanders. The documents vary in leaflets, orders, transcription and letters. The topics are mainly regarding troop leadership, loyalty and obedience in the army, for the nationalist worldview and Hitler. Furthermore, different military degrees are listed and explained. One commander-in-chief reports on their experiences and their wishes. Of course, these reports also reflect the propaganda of that time. Thus, Commander Schörner describes that he demands absolute fanaticism. That the National Socialist sentiment and the martial spirit should be revealed to everyone and that officers must persuade by their deeds. Also an published order of 1945 demands the highest stake of the people. Gauleiter and Kreisleiter should fight for their homeland the same way as the soldiers at the front. Also documents about the development in public opinion are attached. As the document describes, the bond with the Führer is still excellent and the confidence is further strengthened. In addition orders of the NS-Führung der Wehrmacht and from the Führerhauptquatier can be seen. The circular states that the nationalist ideology and political stance are used as the strongest weapon. Hitler commands: the task of the troop leader is the political activation and fanatization of his group; the Nazi leadership officer must help the troop leader and report incidents and abuses immediately. In addition, training on the subject of 'Der Kampf als Lebensgesetz' (the fight as a law of life) was carried out. The annual report of teaching and training events from 1942/1943 is also available. Furthermore, a copy of the Army High Command (Oberkommando des Heeres) regarding the ideological education of Offizierkorps can be seen. This is about the principles of German soldier hood and that everyone must internalize the nationalist worldview. A pamphlet on the Endsieg (ultimate victory), published by the NADAP in 1944, once again explains the importance of one's own motivation. Especially of the soldiers, Gau- and Kreisleaders. A list from 1943 of the Berlin Main Office with the registered members of the NSDAP in relation to the inhabitants is also attached.
