[The letter of the earl of Wimpffen]

The documents in the file are about a letter that the earl of Wimpffen allegedly wrote to the Jewish Millionaire Baron Hirsch and that holds proof that Hirsch is responsible for the suicide of earl Wimpffen on the 30th of december 1882. In the alleged letter Wimpffen acused Hirsch of making him become a traitor of the nation. The letter was published in 1983 but later proofed to be a fabrication. The file contains a hand written letter, a pension certificate, article from Der Stuermer about the alleged letter of Wimpffen taken as an example of a noble man collapsing because of a Jew. A hand written letter in French. an article fromthe Austrian newspaper Neues Wiener Tagblatt from the day after the suicide. A copy of the Austrian newspaper Deutsches Volksblatt from 24th of december 1890, commemoration the suicide of Wimpffen and mentioning his letter to Hirsch. A copy of the Austrian newspaper Wiener Abendblatt from the 30th of december 1890 reporting about an order of the Austrian prosecution to the Deutsche Volksblatt to publish an adjustment. The newspaper quotes a letter of Earl Kalnoky who states that the letter of Wimpffen to Hirsch is an invention. A copy of Deutsches Volksblatt from the 30th of december 1890 with the letter of Earl Kalnoky published. 6 pages of an unknown book about Baron Hirsch. A transcription from the book Antisemiten Spiegel from 1900 and a transcript of taken from the same book about the letters of the earl of Wimpffen where the publishing of the fabricated letter is described and and a letter of Hirsch who states that it is a fabrication. Letters in the file show the good relation between Wimpffen and Hirsch. The file contains several cables of different people to the Austrian Foreign Ministry in regard to the suicide of Wimpffen.
