Scope and Content

Clippings mmostly from The Listener, and one from The Observer, many of them written by Paul Anderson, some anonymously signed 'Observer Correspondent', on a wide range of post-war topic, though mainly focused upon the political situation and elections in France. Additionally the newspaper clippings include several reports on ongoing and potential trials - that of Petain and Laval - and the rebuilding of Hamburg, Germany. The political columns survey disputes over finance allocation ot the army, redrafting of the French constitution, the position of the Socialists and Communists as well as the French left. Additionally several notifications and invitation to the press from the Press Service are also attached, including a notice of a party for replacing a bust of Queen Victoria and a conference of American reporters.
