Scope and Content
The file contains informations about the last days of the German Reich and the uprising in Munich on April 27th. One report is written during the last days of war in the Austrian and Bavarian mountains. The author tried to honer the memory of the uprising in Bavaria and its participants with his report. During his days there the author was accompanied by Rupprecht Gerngross, who was the leader of the uprising in Baveria against the Nazis and two members of his group. The author is discribing how the time with these people have been and how they tried to find their wifes back, who they have had ordered to be hidden in the mountains before the SS could find them. Since Gauleiter Giesler had ordered that Gerngross and his family must be got dead or alive. On the way up the mountains they passed several troups and armed soldiers. But as the German troops were not yet surrendered but aware that the end was near and as the author was wearing his British army uniform noone stoped them. After an exhausting hike up the mountains they finally reached the little hut. Mrs. Gerngross and the little daughter were still alive, unfortunately they were ill and feverish as they were up in this hut for over a week. An other report is dealing with the uprising in Muchich and Captain Ruprecht Gerngross. Gerngross during that time was 31 years old, a lawyer in civil life and the son of the best known doctor in Munich. He was a man of wealth and influence. Between 1933 and 1939 Gerngross slowly and carefully formed groups of anti-Nazis all over Bavaria and established contacts as widly as possible.
