Scope and Content

The file contains an eyewittnesses account of conditions in Auschwitz by two Slovakian prisoners, the only ones who came from Slovakia and escaped from the concentration camp. Both were deported to Auschwitz in 1942 and after two years of beeing prisoned they achieved to escape. The report presented in this file contains their experiences in the concentration camp. Their reports were considered as reliable, as the were proved with other datas and reports. Both explained very detailed what they experienced. Starting from their imprisonment, their arrival in Auschwitz, were they got their prisonment number tattooed, that they had to give all their belongings to the Nazi officers and how they got placed in their barracks, up to their escape were they were counted to around 180.000 Jews, who were imprisoned. They also discribed in their reports how the concentraition camp was built, divided within its inhabitans and guarded by the officers. Furthermore buildings which were under construction are explained in detail, but both of them did not know for what kind of purpose these buildings were build. Also living and working conditions are discribed in detail, as well as the mortality rate within the prisoners. In 1943 around 90.000 Jews were gassed in a month, as they reported.
