Scope and Content
The files contain reports about Jewish location groups in Erfurt, Thuringia between 1936 and 1938. Information about the activities, their members and their relation to foreign Jewish organizations are expressed. The reports mostly contain informations about gatherings within these Jewish organizations. Questions such as when the meetings would be held, which kind of topics would be discussed and why the meetings would not have taken place, as well as how many people participated, have been answered. The reports also cover further information about the Jews who participated and their family members. Also member numbers of Jewish organizations and of the synagogue community of Erfurt, their meanderings as well as activities and annulments had to be reported. As the Sicherheitsdienst des Reichsführers-SS (Security Service of the Reichsführer-SS) was an organization concerned with Jewish affairs and an information-gathering agency the reports were written for them. To fulfill this task, the Sicherheitsdienst created an organization of agents and informants throughout the Reich. As the reports show the informations were very detailed.
