Extent and Medium
1 electronic resource (64 pages)
Scope and Content
The file comprises a multitude of anti-communist, post-war, west-German propaganda directed against communist, east-Germany and its alleged agents, collaborators and spies in 1950s Western Germany. The methods used by the Volksbund für Frieden und Freiheit (the Peoples Asscociation for Freedom and Peace) ranged from handing out pamphlets, brochures to posters, placards and billboards. The language used is violently anti-communist and the organization achieved political accreditation by the west-German government as well as financial funding by said and the US government. In essence, the "Volksbund für Frieden und Freiheit" can be described as a McCarthy like institution in post-war west-Germany.
