Scope and Content
The file contains copies of submitted documents from Hans Ruef, which refer to the Bern trial that took place in the years 1933-1935. Furthermore, minutes of meetings, testimonies and correspondence are attached. The correspondences refer to the exchange of information relating to the Bern trial and the obtaining of information from the defense lawyers. For example, letters from and to Flerischhauer can be seen. There are also information about the witnesses and their testimonies in this folder. In addition also information about the 'Protocols of the wise man of Zion' are shared. In the years 1937 Theodor Fischer and the lawyer of Silvio Schnell, Hans Ruef, appealed to the Berner Obergericht, which acquitted both defendants in 1937 on purely formal legal grounds, arguing that the term "Schundliteratur" of the Bernese Law is not applicable to "political publications" but only to "immoral (obscene) publications.
