Scope and Content

The file contains the third Bulletin from a series of Bulletins dealing with events in the Bern trial. It has been published by the Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities in Switzerland. This Bulletin is regarding the second day of trial on the 30th of April 1935. Since autumn 1934 the trial has been prepared in order to hear the case of the 'Protocols of the Wise man of Zion' and at this day at 9 o'clock the trial was opened by judge Walter Meyer. The Bulletin informs about the expertise presented by Ulrich Fleischhauer, who also published anti-Semitic propaganda through the "Welt-Dienst". In detail the bulletin explains how Fleischhauer presented his expertise and anti-Semitic views. Furthermore he responded to the expertise of Baumgarten, which was heard the day before. He also claimed that the 'Protocols' were genuine but of uncertain authorship, possibly composed by the Jewish author Ahad Haam and passed at a secret meeting of Bnai Brith which purportedly took place in 1897 during the first Zionist Congress at Basel, Switzerland.
