Scope and Content
The publication provides a comprehensive overview of clandestine press produced in various European countries. The first chapter concentrates on France and the daring efforts made to produce and distribute various underground papers. The section on Belgium recounts the adventurous recreation of “La Libre Belgique” and names numerous underground titles. Further chapters discuss the underground papers of the Netherlands, Luxemburg, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia and Norway. The stories tell of courage, danger, daring and the torture and death of many involved in these heroic instances of resistance.
