Scope and Content

The pamphlet discusses the twin threats of Marxism and Nationalsocialism endangering Austria. It compares the "Machtergreifung" (power grab) in Germany to a volcanic eruption that on the one hand liberates but on the other covers everything in rubble. The victory over Marxism was bought at a high price, with many in fear of what will come next. The dangers of National socialism in Austria are discussed. The Nazis are willing to work together with the Marxists to undermine Austrian institutions and patriotism, their goal being the elimination of Austrian independence. In Austria Nazis fight for a new election and the freedom of the press, even tough in Germany there is a dictatorship and no independent press. Efforts are undertaken to discredit Austria abroad and to lobby against funding it with foreign loans. The pamphlet urges its readers to remain loyal and look at Austrian history when it was besieged but stood firm.
