The documentation that Wiesenthal submitted to the Yad Vashem Archives includes administrative documentation of the Jewish Historical Documentation Center and mainly original Nazi documents and signed copies of the documents regarding various subjects such as: Nazi policy, the planning of the anti-Jewish legislation and its implementation, the planning of the"Final Solution"and its implementation including much documentation regarding deportations and the arrangement of the Nazi concentration camps. The Archive also includes: lists of war criminals and card indexes with the names of criminals arranged according to the concentration camps and the places where the crimes were carried out; correspondence with Jewish organizations, Jewish committees and institutions regarding war criminals and their capture; testimonies against Jewish collaborators and documentation regarding trials against Jews accused of war crimes. In addition, the Archive contains original material regarding the lives of the survivors in the DP camps, the emigration of Jewish survivors within Austria and the settlement of Jewish survivors in Austria after the war, the establishment of the Jewish community in Vienna, and activities to commemorate the Holocaust.

אווסף שמעון ויזנטל, ארכיון המרכז לתיעוד יהודי (Juedische Historische Dokumentation) בלינץ, 1938- 1951 המהנדס שמעון ויזנטל יליד Buczacz פולין יסד את המרכז לתיעוד היסטורי יהודי ב-Linz ב-1947. מאז שחרורו ממחנה Mauthausen באוסטריה פעל ויזנטל לאיתור פושעי מלחמה ומעצרם, היה הרוח החיה באיגוד האסירים לשעבר של מחנות הריכוז באוסטריה וממייסדי התנועה הבינלאומית של אסירי הנאצים לשעבר. כיושב ראש הקהילה היהודית ב-Linz וכנציג הג'וינט עמד ויזנטל בראש הניצולים באיזור הכיבוש האמריקני ולחם למען זכויותיהם. כמו כן ריכז את ההכשרה המקצועית באוסטריה כולה. שמעון ויזנטל המשיך בפעולותיו לגילוי פושעים ולהבאתם לדין גם לאחר מסירת ארכיונו ליד ושם ב-1955. איגוד הקהילות היהודיות באוסטריה הזמין את שמעון ויזנטל בשנת 1961 לנהל את המרכז לתיעוד יהודי ב-Wien. בתיעוד שמסר ויזנטל לארכיון יד ושם יש תיעוד מינהלי של המרכז ובעיקר תעודות נאציות מקוריות והעתקים חתומים בנושאים שונים, כגון: המדיניות נאצית, תכנון התחיקה נגד היהודים והוצאתה לפועל, תכנון ה"פתרון הסופי" וביצועו כולל תיעוד רב על אודות גירושים ומערך מחנות הריכוז הנאציים. בארכיון גם רשימות של פושעי מלחמה וכרטיסיות עם שמות פושעים המסודרות על-פי מחנות הריכוז ומקומות ביצוע הפשע, התכתבות עם ארגונים וועדות יהודיות ועם מוסדות בנוגע לפושעי מלחמה ולכידתם, עדויות נגד משתפי פעולה יהודים ותיעוד על אודות משפטי כבוד נגד יהודים שהואשמו בפשעים בימי המלחמה. בנוסף לכך, יש בארכיון חומר מקורי על אודות חיי הניצולים במחנות העקורים, הגירת ניצולים יהודים באוסטריה והשתקעות בה לאחר המלחמה, הקמת הקהילה היהודית ב-Wien והפעילות למען הנצחת זכר השואה.

החטיבה הינה חטיבה סגורה ולא צפוי להתווסף אליה תיעוד נוסף בעתיד.
