Scope and Content

Reports the birth of Ernst's son Gabriel on 31 July. He is burdened by wondering if his elder brother [Emanuel?] would have enjoyed his current popularity.

His summer was spent in Seefeld, Tirol; followed by a trip to Berlin with Ernsti [Esti?] in September where they saw Ernst and Lucy, Oliver and Aunt Marie. Then to Hamburg to see Sophie's family [Halberstadt].

He spent the last week of September with friends: Jones from London, Abraham from Berlin, Fereneli from Brest, Rank from Vienna travelling through Harz, Hillesheim, Halberstadt and Goslar in Germany. He has also had two months of treating a number of overseas patients. His hardships are helped from earning foreign money and the family is no longer dependent on Eli's aid.

Good news generally reported about the family apart from Minna [sister of Martha Bernays], who had a fall and fractured her arm.
