Biographical History
Prof. Dr. Adolf Friedrich Leschnitzer (1899-1980) was a Jewish-German scholar of German language and education. On the instigation of Leo Baeck he had worked as educator for Jewish organisations before he finally left Germany for the US in 1939. Since 1952 he was professor of Jewish history and culture at the Freie Universität Berlin. See Röder, W. and H. Scope and Content
Following a visit of The Wiener in 1953, and comprising typewritten and handwritten letters, the correspondence focuses primarily on the lending and return of books as well as the Library membership of Leschnitzer.
