Biographical History
Otto Lehmann-Russbueldt (1873-1964) was a German writer and pacifist activist. When the Nazis came to power he fled to the Netherlands and later to England. After the Second World War he returned to Berlin. He received several awards for his engagement for peace and was shortlisted twice for the Nobel Peace Prize. See Röder, W. and H. Scope and Content
Comprising handwritten and typewritten letters the correspondence concerns various issues including among others the awarding of Lehmann-Russbueldt with West Germany’s Order of Merit (1953), an enquiry on material about Stefan Lux, birthday wishes, and a meeting of Lehmann-Russbueldt and Alfred Wiener during the latter’s first visit of Berlin in the postwar era (1955).
