Biographical History

Joseph Leftwitch (born Lefkowitz; 1892-1983) was a Jewish-British journalist, author and widely regarded translator of and expert on Yiddish.

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding the consignment of Yiddish books and the Menorah Journal by Leftwitch to the Library, the scheduling of a meeting with Alfred Wiener, birthday wishes, and the exchange of some other personal notes, including a report by Leftwitch of meeting Arnold Zweig and Otto Frank at a PEN conference in Amsterdam 1955.
