Biographical History

A Landgericht (LG) is a district court for ordinary jurisdiction in the federal states of Germany. As such, it serves as mid-level court for private and criminal law. The hearing of restitution cases as well as criminal proceedings of Nazi perpetrators are assigned to its remit.

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding an information requests related to an individual restitution case heard at the LG Bremen. The request concerns the fate of Sinti and Roma that had been deported to the General Government in Poland in 1940 and their living conditions in the forced labour camp Belzec.
