Biographical History

Christine von Kohl (1923-2009) was a Danish-Austrian journalist and human rights activist. In the early 1960s she worked for the Monumenta Judaica exhibition in Cologne.

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding a potential employment of von Kohl at The Wiener Library. Included are information requests on the person of Kohl addressed to the rabbis Kurt Wilhelm (Sweden) and Marcus Melchior (Denmark) as well as a letter by Kohl reflecting the Danish debate of Rolf Hochhuth’s play The Representative, Jewish-Christian relations in Austria, and her relationship with Simon Wiesenthal.
