Biographical History

Dr Karl Georg Fritz Kassel (1897-1982) was an Australian merchant of Jewish-German origin. He had emigrated from Germany with the notorious St. Louis liner, ending up in England first, and later in Australia. Both times he has been incarcerated as enemy alien.

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding enquiries by Kassel about a) the situation of people with German nationality in England at the outbreak of the Second World War, b) the terms of obtaining a copy of an article written by a high rank Nazi official in the Gau Silesia and c) the options of tracing family items confiscated by the Nazis.
