Biographical History

Alfred Jutkowski was a German born Israeli librarian. His father had campaigned for the Centralverein deutscher Staatsbürger jüdischen Glaubens (C.V.) in Berlin and had been acquainted with Alfred Wiener. Jutkowski and his family were among the very first hosts for German volunteers sent to Israel by Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste (Action Reconciliation Service for Peace).

Scope and Content

Correspondence regarding receipt and exchange of published material including the Wiener Library’s Bulletin, with which Jutkowski planned to provide interested circles in Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Furthermore, the death of lawyer Ludwig Foerder as well as the options of shipping his personal papers from Israel to the Library are reviewed. Moreover, a two months stay of A. Jutkowski in England as well as a planned visit to the Wiener Library are discussed (1960).
