Biographical History

Founded in 1914 the Johann-Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main is one of the largest universities in Germany. It is internationally known for its Institute for Social Research, home of the ‘Frankfurt School’. The latter is mostly associated with Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer, but also Jürgen Habermas, Herbert Marcuse, Erich Fromm and Walter Benjamin.

Scope and Content

Correspondence with philosopher Prof. Dr. Norbert Altwicker regarding the ‘Loeb Lectures’, an interdisciplinary series of lectures on history, philosophy and religion of Jewry. Alfred Wiener suggests potential lecturers for the series. Contained are programme leaflets.
