Biographical History

Dr Jacob Jacobson (1888-1968) was a Jewish-German historian, archivist and Holocaust survivor. The World War One veteran had headed the Gesamtarchiv der deutschen Juden from 1920-39. In 1943 he was deported to Theresienstadt. Upon liberation Jacobson emigrated to London and became a member of the Leo Baeck Institute.

Scope and Content

Comprising handwritten and typewritten letters the correspondence centres on an essay of Jacobson on the Jewish community of Posen (now Poznań, Poland), and on the lending of material from The Wiener Library for further studies.
