Biographical History

Established in 1923, the Institut für Sozialforschung is a research institute for sociology and philosophy based in Frankfurt am Main. Affiliated with the city’s university it is best known as institutional and intellectual home of the so called Frankfurt School as well as the Critical Theory.

Scope and Content

Correspondence - with Paul W. Freedman exclusively - regarding various West German political, administration, and journalistic affairs including the question of access to documents of the International Tracing Service in Bad Arolsen and the Document Center in Berlin.
