Biographical History

Prof. Dr. Hans Herzfeld (1892-1982) was a conservative German historian. When the Nazis came to power he was targeted because of his Jewish grandfather, dismissed from university, and imprisoned for several months. After 1945 he was appointed professor at the Free University Berlin.

Scope and Content

Correspondence on various subjects including the arrangement of lectures and talks, the relationship between the Wiener Library and the Free University Berlin, and the recommendation of students.
